For her lingerie brand Savage x Fenty, Rihanna loves to create the event through an annual celebrity-filled fashion show. For this fourth edition, the Barbadian singer would appeal to the controversial Johnny Depp.

Aired on Prime Video on November 9, 2022, Savage x Fenty Volume 4 is expected to include several celebrities such as singers Burna Boy or Anitta, plus size model Precious Lee or top model Cara Delevingne. But also the actor accused of domestic violence, according to information from TMZ. The credits already available for the show also mention the actor’s name, which suggests that it would be more than just a bad rumor.

This is why many fans are protesting against what they consider a show of support from Rihanna for the benefit of Johnny Depp. This isn’t the first time the Barbadian businesswoman continues to work with a violent man. She had teamed up with Chris Brown who beat her up in 2009, and with whom she nevertheless signed a remix of “Birthday Cake” in 2012.

While waiting to know the degree of Johnny Depp’s involvement in this Savage x Fenty Volume 4 lingerie show by Rihanna, some artists are already dissociating from the brand. This is the case of Olly Alexander, British singer of Years and Years, LGBTI + activist and mental health activist, protagonist of the series It’s a shame. He, who was a brand ambassador, said on November 3, 2022 on Twitter that he would no longer wear it.

We can both wonder if it is a sign of support from him for Johnny Depp, both of us regret such a media surge against the singer. This enthusiasm unfortunately reminds us of the way in which, as a society, we may tend to reach out to women who surround an aggressor and from whom we expect a form of example. In short, why do we always demand responsibility from women close to attackers?
