Season two of the new Gossip Girl kicks off December 1 on HBO Max, according to series creator Joshua Safran. All players from Season 1 will be returning, but die-hard fans of the iconic Gossip Girl will especially appreciate the arrival of the ubiquitous Georgina Sparks played by Michelle Trachtenberg. Viewers can only guess how much scandal and chaos the manipulation master’s return to the Upper East Side will bring.
“What he brought to the original series was anarchy,” Safran said of Georgina. “He is an anarchist. He will do anything and for any reason. We brought that energy to the first series, and then we brought it back to this series. She’s the same and I think that’s the fun, Michelle is older, we’re older, Georgina is older but still has the same energy. His time is up.”
Safran also shared her favorite moment of the new season: “What I love very much and is very funny, the moment it is introduced is about the first series and it touches the characters of the original series and has this small frame. Dialogue about how she interacted with characters from the original series over the past 15 years. It’s one of my favorite parts of the entire season.”
