For those who have known Madmoizelle for a while, remember our section “In the apartment of …” ? Stopped in 2017, it is back in service now.
For this 18th episode, we’re going to visit Sarah’s cute apartment!
In Sara’s apartment

- What is your name and your age?
My name is Sara and I am 30 years old.
- What do you do for a living ?
I am a French teacher in middle and high school.
- What is the pedigree of your apartment? (location, how many square meters, monthly fee or purchase price)
Our apartment is 60 m². It is located in the north of Nantes, on the 2nd floor without a lift. We have a large attic and a cellar (unusable in real life, it looks more like catacombs). Unfortunately, there is no balcony or outdoor space.

We are lucky to be owners, which is becoming more and more difficult in Nantes as property prices rise. The apartment itself cost us € 265,000.

- You live alone?
I live with my wife and our two cats: Murphy and Shelby.
- If you had to give a word or phrase to describe your accommodation, what would it be?
minimalist. By dint of moving friends and girlfriends, we realized the uselessness and weight of certain things. We avoid unnecessary purchases that end up in the closets. Here we keep, give or sell!

- If you were to interview your apartment, what would be its positive and negative aspects?
The good points:
– The bathroom with a large window overlooking the courtyard, without vis-à-vis. Taking a shower with the window open while watching the sunset is priceless. And for applying makeup in the morning with natural light, it’s the best!

– The kitchen attached to the bathroom. My boyfriend tells me about his day in the shower while I fry the gnocchi in the pan. Practice !
– The golden hourwhen the twilight light enters the bathroom and runs through the entire living room, magic!

The negative points:
– Acoustic and thermal insulation (ah the charm of the old …) I hear the “Marcccccccc! by Leila Bekhti when the neighbor is watching TV. The bedroom overlooks a busy, car-polluted boulevard, so it’s impossible to sleep with the window open… I’ve also gotten into the habit of going out in a sweater.

– There is no window in the living room which is not practical when it comes to light when you love plants.
Can you show us one (or more) objects that we can only find at home? An object found, manufactured, inherited …
I would say our “mini abstract artworks” made with large markers and framed by my boyfriend. In practice, for fun, he wanted to sell them on the Bon Coin at a high price, and then finally they are on the office wall …

- Do you have a decoration idea, not too expensive or even DIY that you are too proud of and want to share?
Since we are minimalists, we bet on the “small” level of decoration (books, plants and frames).
Many people sell low-priced plants (and cuttings) on Le Bon Coin. We like fairly expensive brands (AMPM, Serax, Made…), so we put notices on Le Bon Coin and pay: the desk, the dining table and the coffee tables (among others) come from the site. Otherwise, for those who have a small apartment without light, a tip: bet on height, transparency (glass, pvc) and white!

- IS that you had a big cracked wallet for something in your house?
It was out of the question for me to put money into a television, an object that I find horrible and stupid. Problem: My boyfriend and I are huge movie fans and enjoying a movie on a 13-inch screen is complicated. As a result, we fell in love with a The Frame television (around € 550 instead of the 800 of the time) during a commercial operation.

Otherwise, my “Minister” type desk with leather desk pad (skinned by my cats ever since) and found on the Bon Coin for 400 euros. A must when you are a teacher.

- What are your decorative quirks?
Wanting to put plants and candles everywhere (but I moderate myself a lot).

- Where do you feel most at home?
Under the duvet with a good book. We bet on a raised bed base and a large bed, the best ideas in the world.

- What is the music that plays most often in your home?
No music, but many podcasts (Les Pieds sur Terre, Thune, Affaire Sensible, Passages, etc.).

- Do you have work or decoration projects?
Redo the bedroom. It must be completely repainted in white and its insulation improved.

If not, change the front insulation door again and again.

- Do you follow Instagram accounts for decoration inspiration?
The inside of some accounts sell me dreams: Mangoandsalt, laura_pigeon, Diglee …
- How long do you see yourself living in your home?
We bought over a year ago but are planning to sell. A couple, two cats and a baby project take up space!

Thanks to Sara for this nice visit!
If you want to participate too, nothing too complicated: send me an email on manon[@]madmoizelle.com with the subject “Welcome to my home!” ” or use the form below and I will send you the questionnaire and the procedure to follow.
We accept applications from all over France and also from all over the worldas long as you can photograph your favorite pieces in the house, your favorite objects, your pet …
You don’t need to have a great camera for that, your phone can work wonders too and we can always tweak them a bit to make them even more beautiful.
Of course, if you’re good at photography, it works too!
