Stop Motion animation film director Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, Wendell & Wild,) is still eager to develop a discarded film project titled The Ocean at the end of the alley. This is a project he was working on once, and it was an adaptation of the Neil Gaiman fantasy story published in 2013.

Selick had written fifty pages of a screenplay for the film, the story of which centered on “an unnamed man who returns to his childhood home for a funeral when he is inundated with memories of his childhood involved in a magical conflict.”

When asked in an interview with EW, Selick said, “I would consider that [Gaiman’s] best book. It was set up as live-action, and then Neil gave me a chance with it, which was going to be great as a stop-motion movie. But it should also be PG-13, which honestly is, I think, a tie for 10-year-olds. They don’t want to see G or PG. “

Discussing the evaluation, he explained: “I think that’s a good thing for most. With us, that’s how it needs to be done. I’m in contact with Neil and he’s had super success with some of his series. More Neil is involved. in the adaptations, the better the projects, I think, which mainly start with Good Omens. “

Selick goes on to say this The Ocean at the end of the alley getting it done all depends on the success of Wendell & Wild. “It was something I took over there to LAIKA, and then Neil took over the project for a while. Then I saw it again. I said, ‘Look, why don’t you give me another chance?’ We just have to see how Wendell & Wild is doing. We have some really good reviews, and then we just have to see if people are watching it to keep making another one. “

I hope Selick really gets to make this movie! I have no doubt that he would turn the story into a great movie!
