Thanks to the video library of her works, my mother always brought to light the wonders of the VHS that she put in the VCR when I was well, or when she wanted to be in peace.
I spent part of my childhood watching a lot of movies, TV was off limits.
My first twist
Very early on, I developed a pronounced taste for suspense films, and if there were additional hints of horror in them, it was insanity on all levels.
At the age of 10 I found a DVD or a VHS that I no longer know, a bit by chance, and I had a great desire to watch its content.
The jacket was all dark and only Nicole Kidman’s face lit by a candle gave some light to the furniture.
Was called Otherand it looked scary.
I was alone in the house, and I didn’t know if I was really allowed to watch such a thing without being accompanied by an adult.
A little excited by the idea of a possible transgression, I inserted the object into the player or VCR, and waited for the jitters.
Obviously she came. Otherit’s scaryespecially for a 10 year old.

After this lonely projection, I was quiet for a while on my sofa, not knowing what to do.
It wasn’t fear that paralyzed me, but a whole new sensation that had never struck me before: I had been taken for a pumpkin.
I had been told a story, made to follow certain leads, and then the whole castle of my certainties had been demolished.
Was my first meeting with the twists.
From that moment on, I have been looking for this feeling everywhere and at all times.
You too, sweet reader? So here’s a small selection of movies whose final twist will make you completely reconsider how you envisioned the story!
Usual suspects and its final turn
This is THE classic next to which it is difficult to pass, to the point that it is difficult not to be pampered.
Directed by Bryan Singer and worn by Chazz Palminteri, Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, among others, Usual suspects blew up a lot of brains.
- What is it about, Usual suspects ?

Five criminals find themselves in police custody after being reported by an anonymous man.
Sometime later, they are all hired to carry out a criminal action sponsored by the criminal mastermind Keyser Söze.
Then they become the puppets of an abominable conspiracy …
Usual suspectsis an unmissable film that has deserved its place in the Pantheon of movies with the greatest fuckers.
Sixth Sense and its final turn
I have a complicated relationship with this film, insofar as I have unlimited affection for it… even if I don’t find its transcendent twist.
Suspense Master M. Night Shyamalan leaves enough clues from the beginning of his film so you can quickly suspect that it turns him upside down.
But all the same Sixth Sense remains a good movie, brilliantly starring Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment and Toni Collette.
- What is it about, Sixth Sense ?

An eight-year-old boy named Cole Sea is haunted by a dark secret: he sees “dead people”.
Visions that traumatize him, make him sweat.
The child locks himself up in morbid fear and does not want to talk about this terrible power to anyone but a specialized psychologist.
What are these manifestations due to?
You’ve probably already seen Sixth Sensebut I encourage you to watch it again. You will see, it takes on a completely different flavor on the second or third viewing, and above all it hasn’t aged a bit!
old boy and its final turn
Park Chan-Wook is one of my favorite South Korean directors, along with Bong Joon-Ho and especially Na Hong-Jin (the best guy in my opinion).
I found out old boy late, just a few years ago, but I immediately fell in love with it, to the point of seeing it several times and even banging its bad American remake.
- What is it about, old boy ?

Oh Dae-Soo, a seemingly quiet family man, is kidnapped right outside his home.
For years he was held in a private cell that looked like a hotel room. His only link with the outside world? A television.
Beneficial object which, however, will make him sink even further into his misfortune. In fact, he learns on TV that his wife has been killed and that he is the prime suspect.
Anger then replaces despair. His hatred and his need for revenge become his only reason for living.
Fifteen years later, he was released without any explanation. He is then contacted by the one who caused him all these misfortunes and whose identity we still do not know.
He offers to find out who kidnapped him and above all why!
And there BAAAAAAAAM: huge intertwine.
I’m not telling you anything, but if I had to remember just one piece of advice today, it would be this: company old boy.
South Korean cinema has, I think, something that others don’t have. A taste for the unusual, a sense of mental fucking and shocking discomfort …
Seven and its final turn
Return to the great American classics with this film, some verses of which have become ultra-cult.
Worn among others by Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Seven plays with his spectators skillfully and still remains a nugget of suspense today.
- What is it about, Seven ?
Inspector Somerset is completely tired and in a hurry: go out and retire.
But only seven days after well-deserved retirement, he has to deal with a sordid relationship.
A murderer, who goes by the name of John Doe, has decided to punish citizens by committing murders based on the seven deadly sins: gluttony, greed, laziness, pride, lust, envy and anger.
Quite violent and very well built, Seven it’s a film I never get tired of.
Similarly but in a slightly less known way, I recommend you too The gameby the director himself!
Psychosis and its final turn
psychologyfrom the original title, it is one of the masterpieces of filmography by Alfred Hitchcock.
Personally, I’m crazy about it, even if it’s not my favorite. My favorite remains Birdsthat my grandmother had the good idea of having me look at her house one evening before going to bed.
I didn’t sleep all night but I was thirsty to see even more to give me the chills. A few days have then passed I found out Psychosis, which also froze my blood.
Psychosis it is rightfully considered a masterpiece and I advise you to give it a chance.
Even though it was released in the 1960s, it has lost none of its modernity.
- What is it about, Psychosis ?

Marion Crane is not satisfied with the life she leads. Her lover can’t marry her and she can’t blame her job anymore.
In search of adventure, Marion one day commits a madness …
His boss asks him to put $ 40,000 in the bank. Instead of letting it go, like he should have, the young woman runs away with the money.
Driving without a destination but starting to feel very anxious.
Marion ends up stopping by a motel run by one Norman Bates. She dines with him, hides the booty and goes to take a shower …
I won’t tell you more but you must have already seen excerpts of this famous shower scene, which they show us in videos, at festivals and which we also cover in pubs.
Psychosisit’s crazy!
Shutter Island and its final turn
Another movie I’ve seen a thousand times but still makes me love it!
Directed by Martin Scorsese and conducted by Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley at the height of their talent, Shutter Island it was hugely successful when it was released in 2010.
- What is it about, Shutter Island ?

Marshal Teddy Daniels and his colleague Chuck Aule must solve a mysterious case that upsets the island of Shutter Island.
The island is home to a psychiatric hospital where all the most dangerous criminals are incarcerated. There, one of the patients named Rachel Solando went missing under very bizarre circumstances.
How the hell did the killer get out of a locked cell from the outside?
If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you Shutter Island. You’ll see, it’s a little clearer than The mystery of the yellow room… Without wanting to spit on Rouletabille!
And there you have it, sweet reader, you’ve got enough to blow your brains out for a few nights. And you, what movies have you screwed up your mind?
