The new season of American Horror Story, the sequel to the Supernatural series, the reboot of the cult Interview with the Vampire, the horror movie about nursing home teenagers and the long-awaited Shantaram with Charlie Hunnam. We are talking about the main series of October.

“Interview with the Vampire” (Interview with the Vampire)

A remake of the novel by American Ann Rice, in which the 1994 cult movie of the same name with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise was shot. There are no stars of this magnitude in the series, the main roles are played by Sam Reed and Jacob Anderson, known from Game of Thrones.

If the tape of the 90s only allowed viewers to guess what kind of relationship the main characters have (a certain romantic component was clearly read there, but not advertised), then in the 2022 series everything is much clearer. 1900s, Louisiana. Louie is a black pimp who owns several brothels. A new acquaintance – the Frenchman Lestat – will fascinate him and open up the previously unknown world of vampire passions.

“Interview with the Vampire” is just the beginning of a big cycle from AMC: the cable channel has acquired the rights to 18 of Anne Rice’s books.

“Family Friendly” (Family Friendly)

A smiling and charismatic man, Robert becomes a favorite of the Broberg family. Nothing portends trouble, but it’s getting close: throughout the series, we observe how the “family friend” gradually turns into trust and creates disagreements among relatives. At one point he kidnaps the couple’s 12-year-old daughter. The girl is found and released by the FBI, but two years later, history repeats itself.

Robert is played by Music Man and The White Lotus’s Jake Lacy, and the Brobergs are Anna Paquin and Colin Hanks. The plot is based on a true story of the 70s.

“Alaska Daily” (Alaska Daily)

A novelty for fans of investigative journalism stories in beautiful but bleak landscapes. The place is Alaska. The main character (Hilary Swank) comes here with the intention of starting a new life. In New York, she was a successful crime reporter until a scandal ruined her career. She is now a journalist for a local newspaper and is again dealing with a crime issue – uncovering a string of femicides.

“Alaska Daily” was directed by director and screenwriter Tom McCarthy, who won two Oscars for the 2016 film “Spotlight” – it’s also about investigative journalism.

“Midnight Club” (Midnight Club)

The action takes place in a nursing home, the characters are seriously ill teenagers whose prognosis is disappointing. Teenagers meet every night in the hospice library and tell each other scary stories. They also agree to “keep in touch” after someone dies. Meanwhile, something strange is constantly happening in the house itself, and if you look into its past, terrible secrets will be revealed.

The creator of Night Owls Club is Mike Flanagan, who is already called a living horror classic. On her account, the films “The Fairy of the House on the Hill”, “Midnight Rite”, “Haunting of Bly Mansion”, “Weegee. Curse of the Devil’s Board”, “Doctor Sleep” and many more creepy stories.

“Winchesters” (Winchesters)

Anyone who misses Dean and Sam needs to watch the spin-off series “Supernatural”, which tells the love story of the Winchester brothers’ parents. John and Mary met in the early 70’s. A soldier returning from Vietnam is a young demon hunter investigating his father’s disappearance. John’s mother tries to save her son from a collision with evil forces, but fails: the couple embarks on a dangerous adventure.

The narrator is, of course, Dean Winchester (who is also the producer of the new series), played by Jensen Ackles.

“The Observer” (The Observer)

The Netflix series stars Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale as a couple moving into a new home with their children. The mansion is beautiful, but you can’t expect a quiet life: As soon as the new tenants move in, they start getting scary letters. The mysterious stalker introduces himself as the Watcher and reports that he is “obsessed with the house” and is now with new tenants. Neighbors are also very strange personalities, acquaintances are advised to sell the mansion as soon as possible. The spouses themselves believe that avoiding an anonymous stalker is not the best idea, so they plan to figure it out first.

The series is based on a true story set with a family from New Jersey in 2014.

Following in the glorious tradition of David Fincher’s The Social Network legend about the creation of Facebook, the Swedish mini-series Playlist tells the story of how Spotify came to be. While the service’s founders, Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentson, made a real revolution in the mid-2000s, everyone is unhappy – music companies, pirates and even Steve Jobs himself.

The script is based on the book “Against the Giants: How Spotify pushed Apple and changed the music industry” by Swedish journalists Sven Carlson and Jonas Leijonhufvud.

“Shantara”

Nearly 20 years after the international best-selling book “Shantaram” was published, we meet the film adaptation. Australian Gregory David Roberts’ novel is based on the author’s adventurous life: he was a drug addict, went to jail for a string of robberies, escaped and hid in India for 10 years.

Roberts began writing the book while behind bars, and as soon as it was published and gained incredible popularity, there was talk of a movie adaptation. Several studios fought for the rights at once, Johnny Depp wanted to make a movie and play the main role. As a result, the main character is played by Charlie Hunnam, his lover is the French actress Antonia Desplat.

“American Horror Story” (American Horror Story: New York City), season 11

Ryan Murphy is ready to present the 11th season of his legendary wit. Details of the next season of American Horror Story were kept in strict secrecy until the very last moment. At the end of September, information about the New York City subtitle and, accordingly, the location appeared. A few days later, a teaser was released on the show’s account, featuring footage from a nightclub and BDSM-themed features, with the phrase “there’s never been a season like this”. Its plot is still unknown, but as the creators of the series said, the story will develop in different time periods. Rumor has it that it’s the 70s and 80s with “Studio 54”.

“Taste of Life” (From Scratch)

Another story based on true events but this time romantic. Zoe Saldana Amy’s protagonist is an American student who came to study in Italy. First Amy falls in love with the atmosphere of the country, then with Sicilian chef Lino. Everything gets so serious that he is ready to change his life and go to live in America with his girlfriend. There, difficulties await the couple, and misunderstanding by relatives and cultural differences are insignificant. Lovers will have to endure much more difficult trials to maintain their happiness.

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities

Guillermo del Toro will present an anthology of horror from the best traditions of the genre on Halloween eve. He invited eight directors to shoot their own stories as well as works by other authors, including the horror classic Howard Lovecraft. The directors involved in the project include Katherine Hardwick (“Twilight”), Jennifer Kent (“The Babadook”), Panos Cosmatos (“Mandy”) and others. They all tried to embody on screen the idea that del Toro himself expressed in the trailer for the series – that this world is “beautiful and terrible at the same time”.

“White Lotus” (White Lotus), second season
October 30, HBO

We will see Italian beauties in the HBO project, which is the second season of the White Lotus series. The first was critically acclaimed, critically acclaimed by the audience, and was nominated for other prestigious awards, including an Emmy Award and also a Golden Globe nomination for Jennifer Coolidge (for her, the show was a major comeback from American Pie fame).

The first season was about guests of the luxurious White Lotus Hotel in Hawaii. In new episodes we move to Sicily – the resort of the same fictional hotel chain is located here, and intrigues will be knitted again, and scandals will break out that can turn the measured vacation life into chaos.
