A few years ago it was revealed that Perry was on the verge of life and death due to his addiction to strong painkillers. At the age of 49, his colon fell out and he was in a coma for two weeks. Then the doctors told the relatives of the star that the chances of survival were minimal – 2%. Fortunately, Matthew came out of the coma. After that, she spent five months in the hospital and used a colostomy bag for another nine months.

“I was put into an ECMO machine that started the work of the heart and lungs. After that, no one survives,” the actor recalls with fear. In fact, the problems started years ago. When Matthew starred in Friends, he began to develop an alcohol addiction.

“In a way, I can handle it. But when I was 34, I really had a lot of problems. But there were years that I didn’t use it. Season 9 was the year I was completely sober. And guess what season I was nominated for Best Actor? I thought, “This is something to me. He should say it,” says the star in an interview with People. Having gone through perhaps the scariest period of his life, the actor proudly declares that he is now a “healthy man”.
