Previously, Molochnikov had an affair with actress Ekaterina Varnava. They met for two years and even managed to get married, but broke up almost immediately. About the reasons for the breakup, the director only said that “something came to a halt” in their relationship. He noted that they would move to the United States together, and since she already holds American citizenship, the wedding would make it easier for Catherine to obtain it.
