A trip to Twinsburg: twins on the runway, references to Japanese folk costumes and collaboration with Gremlins at the Gucci show

A few hours ago, the show of the new Gucci SS23 collection codenamed Twinsburg ended. The glorious (as always) show began with the voiceover of an elderly woman describing her relationship with her older sister. It was later learned that the creative director of the brand, Alessandro Michele, dedicated the show to his mother Eralda and twin Giuliana. She explains in a note to the collection: “I had two mothers: Eralda and Juliana. Two extraordinary women who magically mirror each other.”

According to the creator’s opinion, only the twins participated in the show (as you might guess). True, but in the end, it became clear when a wall rose, dividing the space into two parts. Then the models took the podium by holding the hands of their brothers. A fascinating picture that does not leave anyone indifferent.

Now let’s move on to the collection itself. Michele bet on the brand’s rich heritage, this time skillfully combining the Tom Ford and Frida Gianini eras, and also managed to relive childhood nostalgia by offering a collaboration with Gremlins.

You can also see many references to folk costumes in the show. The connection with Chinese and Japanese culture was most clearly traced.

We invite you to take a closer look at the entire Alessandro Michele for Gucci collection in our gallery.
