Believing that the new seasons start on the 21st of the month is a welcomed idea. In fact, this year, autumn will start well on September 23rd. Would you like to know why?
Autumn 2022 will start on September 23rd
If the best season of mushrooms, orange leaves, pumpkin soup and Halloween starts this year on September 23, there is a relatively simple explanation.

The Earth revolves around the Sun in 365 days, 5 hours and 46 minutes, and every four years the date of February 29 is added to readjust the bazaar. And since the Earth does not revolve around the Sun in 365 precise days, the day of the change of season varies according to the year. Consequently, the date of the equinox, the time when the Sun crosses the plane of our terrestrial equator and announces the change of season, is scheduled for September 23 of the year 2022.
For fans of the season, rest assured, it will still last 89 days in total, like all other years, until the winter solstice, which will be December 22, at 03:27 and 19 seconds, according to the calculations of the Institute of Celestial Mechanics and Ephemeris Calculus (IMCCE), located inside the Paris Observatory.
From tomorrow we will lose 4 minutes of sunshine a day and a few degrees of temperature. The good news is that it all brings us even closer to Christmas!
