While The walking dead is coming to an end, fans can’t wait to see some of the fantastic spin-offs happening in the world of the flagship series, namely the Daryl Dixon series that will star Norman Reedus; the Rick and Michonne series starring Andrea Lincoln And Danai Gurira; and the Maggie / Negan show starring Lauren Cohan And Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
While we’ve heard little tidbits about where some of these shows will take place, we haven’t heard much else. But in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Norman Reedus described his new series and how it came about, saying:
“These spin-off talks had been going on for two years. It was a good year before they announced it The walking dead it was about to end. And over time, she has changed direction several times. “
The show is not just the sequel to The walking dead but it is also related in some way to the credits scene The Walking Dead: World Beyond finale, in which a scientist in an abandoned French laboratory was filmed after seeing Dr. Edwin Jenner’s videos (from season 1 of the original series) on tests performed on variant walkers. AMC President Dan McDermott says the spin-off “will follow Daryl as he wakes up and finds himself somewhere on the European continent and tries to piece together what happened. How did he get here? How is he going to get back to home?”
The series was originally supposed to follow Daryl and Carol, but Melissa McBride retired from the series after it was decided he would film overseas.
Reedus is currently in France to begin work on finding locations for the show, and explained that the new series will take a completely different direction than fans are used to, saying:
“We knew we wanted to do a show that went the other way, just because we didn’t want to do the same thing. So that’s what we’re doing. And it will be. way different. The story is different. The characters are very different. There is a different tone, there is a different light, there is a different sound. It’s a completely different atmosphere. “
He went on to add that it’s not simply the French setting that will make the new series so great:
“I went to location scout here and things like that, but it’s also more than just a location. It’s all the things we love about those characters and those shows, but it’s going to be brand new, which I’m excited about.”
As excited as the actor is for everyone to see the end of the series that launched him to stardom, he is equally thrilled that everyone is enjoying the second act of his Daryl Dixon journey. He promises the star: “He’ll be fucking epic.”
