This summer, french fries and rustic potatoes disappeared in many establishments of the Vkusno-i Dot fast food restaurant chain. The representatives themselves said that the fact that many dishes are not favorites is due to the bad harvest of special potato varieties in 2021. In addition, importing products from other countries to Russia has become more difficult. This was said by the general director of “Tasty – and that’s it” Oleg Paroev.
“The factories that produce french fries, both in unfriendly and friendly countries, apparently belong to the five or six largest companies whose headquarters are in hostile countries and, accordingly, refuse to supply their products to Russia.” RBC.
According to him, previously at Russian McDonald’s, 85% of the potatoes were produced in Russia and 15% were imported. Paroev also added that at the moment there are some difficulties in the storage of potatoes in Russia, and for the restaurants of the Vkusno – i Tochka chain, products must be prepared in advance for frying.
However, those who like french fries should not go. The chain’s press service told RBC this month that the dish is returning to former McDonald’s establishments and will reappear in all Vkusno-i Tochka restaurants by the end of September. “This potato has slightly larger sticks and we’re already getting positive guest feedback on its flavor.”
