After the death of Elizabeth II, Burberry and Raf Simons cancel the show at London Fashion Week

Queen Elizabeth II is dead, King Charles III alive, but not too soon. After her Majesty’s death on 8 September 2022 at the age of 96, the UK must mourn and celebrate its new king. While the funeral will take place on September 19th at Buckingham Palace, with leaders from all over the world, the British capital should also be excited for fashion week.

Indeed, the next London Fashion Week will be held from 15 to 19 September, exactly the same week as the Queen’s funeral, so the media will be obsessed with Elizabeth II. However, a parade should be a display of power and influence, a spectacular event in the hopes of becoming highly publicized and therefore particularly expensive. This is undoubtedly why Burberry just announced the cancellation of its Spring-Summer 2023 show, originally scheduled for September 17th, ” for respect officially.
