After the death of Elizabeth II, Burberry and Raf Simons cancel the show at London Fashion Week

Burberry and Raf Simons have announced that they will cancel their respective shows scheduled for London Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2023, which will run from 15-19 September. But how much will this London Fashion Week be worth if all the big names run away?

Queen Elizabeth II is dead, King Charles III alive, but not too soon. After her Majesty’s death on 8 September 2022 at the age of 96, the UK must mourn and celebrate its new king. While the funeral will take place on September 19th at Buckingham Palace, with leaders from all over the world, the British capital should also be excited for fashion week.

This is undoubtedly why Burberry just announced the cancellation of its Spring-Summer 2023 show, originally scheduled for September 17th, ” for respect officially. Unofficially, it could also be because the current artistic director, Riccardo Tisci, would be leaving, the media announced on August 31, 2022. WWD

Belgian designer Raf Simons, who was due to show in London during this fashion week, also canceled his show scheduled for September 16, 2022.

For now, the British Fashion Council (BFC) wants the London Fashion Week continue as expected. But if these heavyweights are already choosing to retire, then it is a particularly gloomy London fashion week looming, especially if more big names are on the way …
