It is a treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky.

Jane Fonda: “I’ve been in chemo for 6 months”

Aware of the media impact that her announcement would have, Jane Fonda took the opportunity to put her notoriety at the service of her activism, as usual. She continues the living myth of the small and big screen:

“I am also lucky because I have health insurance and I have access to the best doctors and treatments. I realize, and it is painful, that I am privileged in this. Almost all American families have had to deal with cancer at one time or another and too many people do not have access to the quality health care I receive and this is not fair.

We also need to talk a lot more, not only about cures, but also about the causes in order to eliminate them. For example, people need to know that fossil fuels cause cancer. The same goes for pesticides, many of which are based on fossil fuels, like mine.

I have been on chemo for 6 months and manage the treatments quite well and, believe me, I will not let any of this interfere with my climate activism. “

Putting your cancer diagnosis at the service of the fight for the environment

Awarded twice the Oscar for best actress, out of a total of seven nominations, twice winner of a BAFTA, and awarded with eight Golden Globes, Jane Fonda has always known how to put her fame at the service of her activism. After fighting the war in Vietnam, then in Iraq, the one who also asserts herself in the fight against sexism maintains a community of climate activists called Fire Drill Fridays.

In the wake of the announcement of her diagnosis, Jane Fonda then calls for continuing to fight global warming and urges people to join their community of environmental activists, before concluding:

“The mid-term elections are approaching and will have undeniable consequences, so you can count on me to be there with you as we grow our army of climate champions. “

Whether it is against cancer or the negative impact of man on the climate, the fight for Jane Fonda continues.
