‘Funny Girl’: First look at Lea Michele tackling the iconic Broadway role

Producers first offered Lea Michele a try for the role of Fanny Bryce in the current Broadway production. funny Girl.

Michele played the role after Benny Feldstein suddenly announced in July that he would be leaving the role at the end of the month amid rumors that his ex Rejoice Star Lea Michele had already been chosen in her place. The role, of course, was first made famous on Broadway and on the big screen by Barbra Streisand.

Jane Lynch, who played ‘Mrs. Bryce ”also announced that she would leave production early. She wished the “fan” was waiting for Julie Benko and her ex Rejoice Constellation ok.

“Special thanks to my current partner Julie Benko and I’ll be back to see my friend Lea Michele turn on the lights,” Lynch wrote.

Michele starts the race on September 6, with Tova Feldschuh replacing Lynch at the same time.

funny Girlwhich received mixed or negative reviews and no Tony Awards, had significant box office success in the week leading up to Michele’s announcement.

That said and the iconic shoes he fills, the stakes are high in Michele’s performance.
