The group Pink Floyd released the first song, Hey Hey Rise Up, with which they have been supporting the Ukrainian people since 1994. The vocal part in it was performed by the lead singer of the Boombox group, Ukrainian artist Andrey Khlyvnyuk.
The song was released on streaming services on April 8. The composition became a cover of the Ukrainian folk song “Chervona Kalina”.
In the message on the official website of the group, it is written that the daughter-in-law and grandchildren of the leader of the group, David Gilmour, are Ukrainian. He added that he learned from the news that the soloist of the Boombox band returned from the Ukraine tour after the start of the military special operations and went to the army. And when she saw on the network a video of how she sang the song “Chervona Kalina” in an empty square, she realized that she wanted to put it to music.
Gilmore added that he wanted to express his support for the Ukrainian people with this song and that all the money raised will be used to help the victims.
Russian fans will not be able to watch the video for this song: the clip for users from Russia on YouTube was blocked at the request of the owner. In addition, the group has banned all music recordings released on the territory of Russia and Belarus since 1987.
Support for Ukraine was previously expressed by The Scorpions. In their song Winds of Change, the musicians replaced the words about Moscow with words about Ukraine.
