How did the heroes of cult movies and TV series dress in schools and universities?

Agree, you always feel some excitement before September 1 – it doesn’t matter if you studied at school or graduated from university a long time ago. Personally, we always waited until August to go shopping before the school year started. But, oddly enough, choosing the office for some reason always took more time than the search for the perfect white shirt.

After talking about the school years, a pleasant nostalgia was felt in the The Fashion Vibes editorial office and we decided to remember how things were with the uniform for students. Then it turned out that most of us wear a black bottom and a white top – this is the base and foundation, so to speak. Our beauty director, Kira, talked about how she went on strike in high school and convinced everyone to come to class in jeans. True, what happened next, history is silent. But the editor-in-chief Ksenia could not understand why we were so upset, because at her school the uniform was not mandatory.

That’s when we started imagining what we might look like in high school if we could dress however we wanted. And then I thought of images of Maddie from Euphoria and Blair from Gossip Girl. Then we decided to remember how the heroes of our favorite movies and TV series dressed in schools and universities.

Frame from the movie “Mean Girls”

“Bad Girls”

It seems that the dress code at North Shore High School, where the main characters of the movie studied, consisted of an all-pink look. Remember when bounty girls only wore pink on Wednesdays? In general, “Bad Girls” is a visual encyclopedia of zero style. Here are pleated miniskirts, velvet suits, and those very “baby” T-shirts with bold inscriptions.

Of course, besides the charm, the movie also has another side. For example, the character Lindsay Lohan Cady at first wears wide jeans, stretch t-shirts and plaid shirts. And her unofficial friend Janice, who was not influenced by Regina George, created her own style, far from the standards of that school. Even to the prom, he came in a purple tuxedo, a frilly shirt, and a polka dot bow tie.

Shot from the movie “Legally Blonde”

“Mother-in-law”

It is impossible to pass by the movie “Legally Blonde”, which continues the school and university theme of the 2000s. Reese Witherspoon’s heroine – Elle Woods, president of the Delta Nu University Women’s Association and Harvard student – knows absolutely everything about pink. When someone tries to question the value of orange, she says, “Seriously sick saying orange has replaced pink.”

Elle Woods taught us all to stay true to her style. Of course, you can wear black, but it should not be the main color of the wardrobe. And if you suddenly need to impress someone or prove yourself in a new team, wear black-rimmed glasses (and it doesn’t matter if you have perfect vision). A minimum of bright colors, a tight tail and curls in make-up. But remember the basic rule of curling: “In no case do not get your hair wet for at least a day!”

Shot from the movie “Clueless”

“Uninformed”

It’s hard to imagine school fashion without the movie Clueless. Playing the main character Cher, Alicia Silverstone unknowingly created an iconic school outfit in her Dress Me virtual wardrobe, which remains cinema’s most recognizable image almost 30 years later. Yes, now we’re talking about the yellow checkered team with white golf, in which they get their fans “As if!” He spreads his words. Of course, she could not do without oversized jackets and classic suits with white shirts and diamond vests, as she played the role of the daughter of a wealthy lawyer.

The movie also shows other fashions that are more eccentric and sexy. It is not Cher who preaches this, but Dion, performed by Stacy Dash. Her wardrobe includes vinyl skirts, leopard print and all manner of hats, from berets to top hats. And the red-haired Amber in her school clothes conveyed the ’60s fashion that came to class with marabou feathers.

“Gossip”

We were more concerned about Upper East Side relations than we were about ourselves. Well, we’re not even going to argue with the fact that Gossip Girl defined the fashion of the decade.

For example, Serena made the school uniform the main object of desire of all girls and added a touch of sexuality to it: a tie, socks and boots. Serena loved her knee boots as much as her shoes (for six seasons, the heroine never wore the same pair twice) and wore them with skinny jeans, a fitted coat, and even leather leggings.

What did Waldorf teach us? Wear headbands every day, choose an accessory to match the image (and yes, they’ve never been repeated for six seasons, like Serena’s shoes). A jacket with puff sleeves, a backless dress, and a tweed suit—do you know what inspired costume designer Eric Daman when he found images of the school’s queen? Blair’s style is based on the elegance and femininity she saw in front of Audrey Hepburn.

Frame from the series “Euphoria”

“Euphoria”

The way schoolchildren in the Euphoria series dress, most of us don’t even dress for the trendiest parties. It’s scary to imagine with what words we would come down the stairs if we came to the school disco like this in the gym.

Maddie Perez, played by Alexa Demi, is the series’ main trendsetter and dictates how everyone dresses. Rhinestones and sequins with all kinds of cuts and cuts, miniskirts and dresses – all for her. And Cassie, her boyfriend’s main rival in the battle for her heart and part-time ex-best friend, was the main romance of the series. Floral prints and pastel hues are her style.

Zendaya’s protagonist, Ru, is perhaps the most reminiscent of the average schoolboy (we’re talking about looks now). Agender prefers comfortable, functional clothing in her vein: hoodies, jeans and sneakers. She mostly wears Converse and Vans, but sometimes she wears something more interesting at a party. Vzhuh – and he is already wearing a Gosha Rubchinskiy T-shirt and Roberto Cavalli pants.
