Publisher Vin Scully has been honored by the Los Angeles Dodgers with a commemorative black patch, the team announced today. The black patch will have a microphone and “Kim” on the uniform.
Scully, whose iconic voice has long been featured on Dodger broadcasts in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, died Tuesday at the age of 94. The Dodgers’ next home game is Friday and Scully will be honored in the preliminary game.
At tonight’s Dodgers game against the San Francisco Giants in the Bay Area, both teams set the baselines in a pre-game video tribute to Scully. The Los Angeles Angels also held a minute of silence during their home game against the Oakland Athletics tonight. Reports have leaked from other teams who are paying a brief moment of silence for Scully.
The Hollywood Boulevard crowd gathers to honor Scully’s star on the Walk of Fame. Many have placed flowers on their marker, located near Hollywood’s oldest grill, Musso & Frank.
As previously reported, Los Angeles City Hall is bathing in blue tonight to honor Scully’s memory.
Scully retired in 2016 after a career of 67 years. ‘
