After Sedna, the orca that had gone up the Seine and found dead a few weeks later, it was the turn of a beluga, a cetacean rather accustomed to arctic waters, to get stuck in the river.
A beluga lost in the Seine

Also known as “white whale” or “white dolphin”, the animal was identified a few days ago in the waters of the Seine, according to a press release from the prefecture of the Eure which specifies:
It is a protected species of cetacean that habitually lives in arctic, subarctic waters and in the San Lorenzo estuary in Quebec.. It happens to isolated individuals to wander in more southerly waters. It can temporarily survive in fresh water. (…) An assessment of his state of health is ongoing in order to take appropriate measures to optimize his chances of survival.
This Thursday, 4 August, the marine animal was reportedly spotted near a lock, about 70 kilometers from Paris.
The NGO Sea Shepherd France is currently mobilizing urgently to go there and help the prefecture of the Eure in its decisions in the face of this exceptional situation:

In order not to stress the animal and endanger it more than it already is, the authorities and NGOs are asking the population to stay away and do not get close to the cetacean. Let’s hope he doesn’t know the tragic fate of the Sedna orca.
