Beware of hyperventilation, let’s be calm, this is not an exercise: a prequel to Outlander, the hit series you have been insisting on for 1000 years, will soon see the light, and its subject is too good.
“Blood of my Blood”: we start from the beginning
As we learned in a press release, the prequel will be titled Outlander: Blood of my blood and it should focus on the love story of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Helen and Brian.
Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for STARZ, the channel that will broadcast the series, said:
Outlander is a fascinating series that has won the hearts of its fans around the world season after season. We are thrilled to turn new pages in this vibrant story to bring the story that started it all to our audience. Matthew, Maril and Ronald will continue to bring their incredible vision and creativity to this new iteration. And we can’t wait to find out what awaits us.
Matthew B. Roberts is the writer of the prequel Outlander: Blood of my blood and will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. He currently holds these two posts foreignerwhose seventh season is in production.
Along with Matthew B. Roberts, Maril Davis will also executive produce the prequel with Ronald D. Moore, who developed foreigner for television, under their Tall Ship Productions banner. Story Mining & Supply Company will also executive produce with Diana Gabaldonauthor of the original books from which the series is based Foreigner, as a consulting producer.
We can therefore easily imagine that we will be able to find the Scottish landscapes that make all the charm of the original series, kilts, accents to be cut with the knife and family conflicts. In fact, I remind you that Helen is the sister of Douglas and Colum MacKenziewho are not known to be the quietest boys in the world, and that Helen and Brian got married without the consent of their respective clans. It will all be drama!
Hopefully this prequel will rekindle the flame that is slowly dying out with the original series.
