Kommersant: H&M sells business in Russia
Swedish retail chain H&M is looking for buyers for its Russian assets. This is reported by the publication “Kommersant” with reference to its own sources.
Thus, assets offered for sale include rental rights to 170 H&M stores in 65 Russian cities, a distribution center and $210 million worth of inventory.
One of the broadcast sources also said that in early July, he received an offer from a fashion retailer to buy the Russian assets. Also, the source of the publication indicates that Melon Fashion Group (the company has more than 840 stores under the brands Zarina, Befree, Love Republic and Sela) and Sportmaster group likely received offers to buy.
In March, the company suspended its operations in Russia due to the Russian Federation’s military special operation in Ukraine, and on July 18 the retail chain announced its final withdrawal from the Russian market.
Before leaving, H&M plans to open stores to make the final sale of in-stock items. The sale will take place in August, stores will remain open for a limited time until stocks last. Earlier, information also appeared on the network that during sale the prices of the goods of the brand will increase.
