For those who have known Madmoizelle for a while, remember our section “In the apartment of …” ? Stopped in 2017, it is back in service now.
For this twelfth episode, we will visit Camille’s superb apartment!
In… Camille’s apartment

- What is your name and your age?
My name is Camille, I am 31 years old.
- What do you do for a living ?
I am a pharmacist, in regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical sector.
- What is the pedigree of your apartment? (location, how many square meters, monthly fee or purchase price)
My apartment measures 52 square meters, with a storage room on the landing and a large cellar, on the 4th floor with elevator, is located in Paris in the 11th arrondissement. We bought it together in 2018 for 500,000 euros.
- You live alone?
We live there together with Thibaut, my partner.
- If you had to give a word or phrase to describe your accommodation, what would it be?
Hygge ! It is a Scandinavian word that designates an intimate and warm atmosphere in which one feels good.

- If you were to interview your apartment, what would be its positive and negative aspects?
Good points : it is bright and crossed, it keeps the freshness of summer. The fireplace and the beautiful wooden floor in warm tones give it a lot of charm.

It has a window in every room, even the kitchen located in the center has a small round porthole to see the outside! The bedroom overlooks a garden and a superb maple; it is so quiet that you can hear the chirping of birds: a real treat for us who sleep with the window open both in summer and in winter! Access to the large guarded bike room is also a real plus, as in the neighborhood, it is particularly pleasant!

Negative points: A balcony is missing to make it heaven on earth! Unlike the bedroom, the living room and office face the street which can be quite noisy as it is narrow.
Can you show us one (or more) objects that we can only find at home? An object found, manufactured, inherited …
I love the decor and we bring back many souvenirs from our travels so you can find a whole range of heterogeneous objects that come from all over the world.

I am particularly attached to the bison vertebra that we found in a river in Yellowstone in the United States and that we were able to bring back to France without incident! I put it under glass for a more theatrical effect.

Thibaut paints and draws very well, so his works are everywhere in the apartment.

I also like to bring the seeds of our travels back to try to acclimatize them (with more or less success …) to Paris, so I have some specimens, which come from Sri Lanka, Reunion, Peru or Senegal. There are plants everywhere, which come either from my experiments, or from cuttings that have been transmitted to me and that I too give away: some plants are almost immortal!

- Do you have a decoration idea, not too expensive or even DIY that you are too proud of and want to share?
I made a painting a few years ago using duct tape and bright colors, I’m pretty proud of it! I can’t get enough and it’s really easy to do.
Another trick that does not require skill: although the fireplace is functional, we do not dare to use it for fear of covering everything with ash, so I put several large candles in it: guaranteed effect!

Thibaut and his father also completely created the bedroom bookcase: designing the plans, choosing the wood, cutting the boards and custom assembly: being the place particularly eccentric (no right angles!), A piece of furniture purchased would never have been unable to return, the rendering is at the top!

- IS that you had a big cracked wallet for something in your house?
A lovely wooden figurine of the Nandi Bull (mount of Shiva in the Hindu cosmogony), dating from the 19th century, bought at the Louvre des antiquaires and offered by my dear and tender for my birthday. The wood is incredibly patinated by time, the rather rustic figurine served as a toy for children, you can still see the traces of old wheels. You can almost read the story of the object by running your hand over it and I find it very moving.
- What are your decorative quirks?
Something sweet! I have a passion for soft and warm materials: wool, cashmere, merino … So I have an incalculable number of plaids (most of them brought from travel).

As for clothes, I don’t buy anything that I don’t find “soft” to the touch.
- Where do you feel most at home?
In the blue sofa in the living room (which we call so much the boat has become shapeless): ideal for taking a nap, reading, watching a movie or just snuggling into it. One day it will have to be changed, I fear this moment, I will be very demanding in the choice of his replacement!

- What is the music that plays most often in your home?
It depends on the mood of the day, right now I really like Mogli and Jack Johnson, but in general we listen to a little bit of everything.
- Do you have work or decoration projects?
We did not redo the kitchen when we moved, it is a project that needs to be started, because it is not the most practical and not necessarily to our taste.

- How long do you see yourself living in your home?
I feel so good there that I’m not going to change it for the moment. The neighborhood is also a real favorite, I can’t get enough of it!

Thanks to Camille for this nice visit!
If you want to participate too, nothing too complicated: send me an email on manon[@]madmoizelle.com with the subject “Welcome to my home!” ” or use the form below and I will send you the questionnaire and the procedure to follow.
We accept applications from all over France and also from all over the worldas long as you can photograph your favorite rooms in your home, your favorite objects, your pet …
You don’t need to have a great camera for that, your phone can work wonders too and we can always tweak them a bit to make them even more beautiful.
Of course, if you’re good at photography, it works too!
