’90s supermodel Linda Evangelista says she filed a lawsuit with cosmetics company Zeltiq Aesthetics after being “brutally mutilated” by CoolSculpting in 2016.

After an unsuccessful beauty procedure to reduce fat by exposure to low temperatures, the model had to take a break from her career and practically stopped appearing in public. Last fall, Linda first spoke candidly about the results of the procedure, after which she developed a rare side effect – the paradoxical fatty hyperplasia. Linda stated that her body was “brutally mutilated” by the CoolSculpting procedure, resulting in “the opposite of what was promised.”

At the same time, the model said she filed a $50 million lawsuit for damages. The Evangelista company accused her fat cells of making more, not less, causing her body to “deform” to the point where it looked “unrecognizable”.

Evangelista has yet to report under what circumstances the dispute was resolved. Earlier, Zeltiq’s lawyers said the company was meeting its risk communication obligations, claiming that Linda had signed documents warning of the possibility of developing paradoxical fatty hyperplasia.

Currently, Evangelista is back in the modeling business. She starred in the new Fendi campaign dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the legendary Baguette bag. Linda was photographed in the 1990s by photographer Steven Meisel, of whom she was her muse. There should also be a celebratory show in September – there we can see Linda returning to the podium.
