‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Murdered Team Member Takes GoFundMe Page;  Union Pledges to Continue Fighting for Member Safety

The GoFundMe Page was created for the six children of Johnny Pizarro II, who was shot and killed while working as a production assistant in a parking lot Tuesday morning. Law and Order: Organized CrimeAnd in Brooklyn. About $5,000 has been raised so far, with a goal of reaching $250,000.

At the same time, Pizarro’s union sends its condolences and promises to continue to fight for the safety of its members. Keith Peirce, president of Americas Local 1101 Communications People, told Deadline, “CWA extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Johnny Pizarro. The safety of our members is our top priority, and PPAs are sometimes the only ones to provide parking on New York City streets. “They do inherently dangerous work that includes working long hours on their own. The union raised these safety issues during negotiations with manufacturing companies. We will continue to abide by the provisions in our contracts that provide the safest working environment for our members.”

On Thursday, Chris Grigoropoulos, attorney for his estate and family, created a GoFundMe page. According to police, Pizarro was shot dead while sitting in a car on the set of a television series produced by Universal Television. The suspect is not in custody.

Fundraising page says:

“Juan Alberto Pizarro II was taken from his family and children very early. While she was working and trying to make her family work as parking attendants, a stranger took her from her children in the most reckless way possible. The investigation continues. Funeral and memorial information will be given at a later date.

“Johnny leaves behind a wonderful family and six beautiful children who were not asked to respect their privacy because they were underage,” the page said. “Words cannot describe the emptiness felt by his family and dear friends. He was the shining light and heart of many lives and will be remembered forever.

“This GoFundMe was created by the Grigoropoulos Law Group on behalf of John’s estate and family to financially assist his six beautiful children for their tremendous loss.

“All proceeds will go towards John’s children, funeral and memorial expenses. Thank you for your support. At this sensitive time, we want the media and the public to respect the privacy of the family and to send all their questions and concerns to Atty. We ask the Grigoropoulos Law Group to forward it to Chrissy Grigoropoulos.”
