Blow !  Ysaora Thibus from Guadeloupe becomes world champion in fencing

30-year-old French foil fencer Ysaora Thibus won her first planetary gold medal after winning foil against Italy’s Arianna Errigo (world number 4) at the World Fencing Championships in Cairo on July 19, 2022.

It is in Egypt that France has just won two gold medals at the Fencing World Championships, one of which is particularly tasty. Guadeloupe Ysaora Thibus really does crowned world champion in foil on 19 July 2022 in Cairo (then Romain Cannone in sword on the same day, while Maxime Pianfetti won silver in saber on July 18).

The French Ysaora Thibus becomes world champion in foil

Ysaora Thibus won bronze in 2017 and silver in 2018. It is therefore a great consecration for her to win a gold medal. The 30-year-old French foil fencer scored the victory against the Italian Arianna Errigo (number 4 in the world in the discipline), 15 touches against 10 in the final.

It is therefore an immense pride for Ysaora Thibus, Guadeloupe and France.
