Vincent van Gogh “hid” his self-portrait behind the painting “Portrait of a Peasant Woman in a White Hat”. This secret was kept for 137 years.

On the eve of the new exhibition, Francis Fowl, professor at the National Gallery of Scotland, presented a work that museum staff found by sheer accident while X-raying the painting: “We are delighted to share this exciting discovery with you. ”

Experts suggest that this painting refers to one of Vincent van Gogh’s early works, in which he began practicing self-portraits.
