Members of the animation guild, IATSE local 839, voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new film and television contract with the Motion Picture and Television Producers Alliance. 87% of the votes supported ratification. According to the union, the number of voting members has tripled since the last ratification vote.

According to the guild, the main points of the new contract are:

  • For the first time in Covenant history, writers have their own job classification and progression scale to build upon. Progress has added a minimum wage classification and also addresses compensation issues for experienced writers who are not in a supervisory role.
  • Path to telework covered by unions outside of Los Angeles County on an unedited page. Employers have agreed that members who have done telework out of state can continue to do so and be covered by the contract under certain circumstances. It was not subject to compulsory trade.
  • Extended parental leave protection to cope with other life events, such as caring for a family member with a serious health condition.
  • Wages increased retroactively.
