American writer and journalist Ken Auletta talked about his book Hollywood Finale: Harvey Weinstein and the Culture of Silence in an interview with The New York Times. Released July 12, the book will explore how Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and abuse, found success, who helped him, and how the most influential people entered their circles.

Having recorded 30 new interviews with Harvey’s younger brother, Bob Weinstein, for the sake of this biography, the author met and corresponded with Harvey’s victims.

Auletta answered a journalist’s question about why the producer, who is married to beautiful women, is interested in those who find him “disgusting.”

Auletta writes in her book that Weinstein did not allow her to harass women until she came to power. He added that many of Weinstein’s friends, including politicians, have turned a blind eye to rumors about him.

Many of his acquaintances turned a blind eye because of his influence in the film industry and his talent as a filmmaker.

– Auletta quoted the words of Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Therefore, according to Auletta, actress Judi Dench was so grateful to Weinstein for roles, including the role of Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love, which brought her an Oscar.

In 2015, allegations against Weinstein surfaced in the media when Italian model Ambra Batilana Gutierrez accused the producer of holding onto her breasts. Then Auletta wanted to write about that story, but the case didn’t reach court: Weinstein paid the model $1 million in exchange for written testimony: the model stated she was “behaving properly.”

– notes the author.

Harvey Weinstein is currently in jail in Los Angeles awaiting trial on new charges. Auletta recorded it.

He added that the health of the producer leaves much to be desired today.

It has been reported by many famous Hollywood actresses, including Harvey Weinstein, Rose McGowan, Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek and others. In total, about 80 women opposed him.

It was this story that marked the beginning of the MeToo movement, where women started talking about their experiences of sexual harassment.

Harvey Weinstein has worked in movies like Inglourious Basterds, Sin City, The King’s Speech, I Seduced Andy Warhol, Equilibrium, Kill Bill, Spy Kids, and others.
