In the last weeks of March, about 50 applications were made to Rospatent for the registration of pairs of well-known international brands from Chanel to Nike. In most cases, they try to save an exact copy without even changing the logo. Among cosmetic brands, there are already patents for Christian Dior, Givenchy, Nivea, Lancome and other popular brands.
According to RBC, more than half of all applications came from two legal entities – the drug “Biotekpharm-M” and the cosmetics “Smart Beauty”.
Lawyers are confident that companies and individuals trying to apply for stamps have practically no chance. The basis for the rejection may be copyright or “confusing likeness”. In addition, the fact that some foreign companies have suspended their activities in Russia does not mean that they will not return. Therefore, their trademarks are still under legal protection.
