John K. Painting Becomes Director of the Electronic Media Services Division of the American Federation of Musicians following the tragic death of his predecessor

Juan K Painting has been appointed Director and Vice President of the Electronic Music Services Division of the American Federation of Musicians following the tragic death of EMSD Director Pat Variale, who was beaten to death last month. Run the MTA bus in Staten Island. He was 69 years old.

“I have great respect for John and his deep understanding of AFM media regulations,” said AFM President Ray Hair, who took the appointment. Working with Pat Varial as Executive Vice President of John Painting, she demonstrated her ability to tackle and solve complex and complex issues that arise in the rapidly changing world we find ourselves in when negotiating and managing electronic media deals.

“I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to lead this department in the future,” Paint said. “I look forward to using the skills and relationships I’ve developed over the last decade working in electronic media to help preserve and enrich musician services.

A graduate of Columbia University, Image has been working in the electronic media field since she started her career at AFM Local 802 in New York in 2011. He was appointed Deputy Director of EMSD in May 2019 and was responsible for the management of the National Public Television Agreement. Alongside a wide range of special projects, especially webcasting related contracts since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in a rapidly changing world.

Throughout its 80,000-member union, Painting has contributed regularly to EMSD’s commercial contract-negotiation team, both at the local and federation level. He has also liaised with the Organization and Training Department to develop new training content to better explain EMSD deals as well as helping to streamline EMSD-related efforts.
