The SiriusXM app, which includes Howard Stern and over 400 channels of music, news, sports and other programming, is integrated into Comcast’s Xfinity X1 pay TV system, Flex Streaming Video Pack and XClass Smart TV.
Authorized Comcast subscribers can sign up for SiriusXM and receive the first three months free, the companies said in announcing the partnership.
The SXM app includes over 330 channels in the non-commercial music genre, as well as live sports shows, sports talk, entertainment, news, comedy and more. It also has a collection of podcasts, including Conan O’Brien needs a friend, Comedy Golden Mind with Kevin Hart, office gentleman, 99% invisible, Radio Freakonomics, can save America And the Marvel Entertainment series.
Another feature of the app is the ability to create custom stations using Pandora technology. (SiriusXM acquired music pioneer Pandora in 2019 for $ 3.5 billion.)
SiriusXM and Comcast said the plans provide access to SiriusXM’s video library, which has 11,000 titles. The library includes interviews. Howard Stern’s showExclusive musical performances, plus shows, interviews and clips from the rest of the programming staff.
Joe Werbrugge, chief commercial officer of SiriusXM, said the agreement with Comcast shows the continued expansion of the company beyond the original base of installed machines. The partnership with Comcast, the No. 1 in the United States, whose Flex video streaming division hosts more than 3 million homes, offers “the perfect atmosphere for our customers when they are at home,” he said.
Comcast’s SiriusXM app integration will be followed in recent years by a similar one with Netflix, Disney +, Prime Video, YouTube, and many more.
Sudhir Muralidhar, Comcast’s vice president of app ecosystem, said the deal will allow users to experience SiriusXM programming “on the largest screen in the house, seamlessly integrated with all other entertainment.”
