Alexander Mattiussi presented his new collection for the Ami brand as part of Paris Fashion Week yesterday. Spletnik fashion editor Nadia Bechetnikova talks about how the show went with many star guests.

Alexander Mattiussi gathered a huge turnout both on the podium and in the auditorium. Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Adjani, Emmanuelle Beart and other celebrities posed for photographers against the backdrop of the Paris panorama near the Sacré-Coeur Basilica.

The designer invited the best models of different generations to present his collection, from Kristen McMenamy to Cara Delevingne, from Liya Kebede to Sasha Pivovarova. The guest model that evening was a rare guest of social events – actress Audrey Tautou, who opened the show.

Since its founding in 2011, Ami has been a menswear brand until recently, when it expanded to include women’s wear in 2019. The new collection has become a tribute to that very relaxed Parisian chic that everyone is talking about and is sometimes hard to describe in words, because it’s more about energy and charisma than specific things. Mattiussi deliberately blended stereotypical details with real-life prototypes to create a lovely, wearable French wardrobe of casual, understated jackets, trench coats and more daring, flamboyant leather pieces.
