Spoiler alert: The story below details Wednesday’s season 8 finale. blitz.
In today’s season eight finale. blitzDubbed “Negative, Part Two,” the superhero aka Barry Allen (Grant Gastin) once again finds himself at war with his old nemesis, Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh). Iris (Sugar Patton).
Although Reverse-Flash is animated by negative forces trying to restore balance to the universe, iris is nowhere to be found after Deon (Christian Magbi) puts it in the path of the Flash beam.
After learning some secrets about the negative velocity force that chose him as his avatar, Reverse-Flash takes to the streets of downtown to join forces with negative forces to stir up trouble. At the same time, we learn that Iris is very alive, her consciousness is hidden in the time stone. There she meets Damien Darhck (Neil McDonough) and Damien Darhck (Neil McDonough) explains to her that negative forces used her then illness as an incubator to give birth to her latest avatar.
The Flash eventually confronts Reverse-Flash with Meena (Kausar Mohammed) and the others and dispatches him after absorbing the combined forces of positive forces. The world heals and in the time of Iris recovers from an illness, the village is nowhere to be found in time. It seems that the Flash’s war with his alter ego is indeed over.
After this fight, both Meena and Cecil (Daniel Nicoletti) lose power, but the latter gain a new one: telekinesis. After Tinia (Mika Abdalla) is reunited with her biological mother, René (Megan Gardiner), Iris and Barry discuss the fact that the negative velocity force must find a new avatar, as the world depends on balance. And when they do, Team Flash will be ready for them.
The role of the Avatar can be played by an unseen character, voiced by Daniel Panabeaker, who surprises Mark Blaine (John Cor) when his consciousness emerges from the Easter Room. “Who are you?” he asks and replies, “Dude, I guess”.
Developed by Greg Berlant, Andrew Kreisberg and Jeff Jones. blitz It was updated for a ninth season in March. From a screenplay by director Eric Wallace, Marcus Stokes made the finale tonight.
Before the episode aired, Wallace spoke to Deadline to shed light on the end of the car he’s driven for years, something he once thought could be the series’ finale. Also, Blaine, series regular Jesse L. Fan-favorite Martin returns for season ninth, with the release of characters and anticipation that next season could be the show.
TERM: When did the idea arise? blitzWill it crystallize by the end of season eight?
Eric Wallace: This is the finale that I have been attending literally for several years. Original idea for the final battle between negative and positive forces. [came] Two years ago, when we decided to spawn positive forces at the end of season six and the end of season seven. So it’s been built all this time and we’re leaving little hints. For example, at the end of Season 7, Speed Force Nora’s “Hey! I just discovered negative forces. I didn’t even know they existed.” We were the ones who warned him that this was coming.
TERM: Was there an alternative side to the ending? Are the ideas that you have discovered and not yet completed reflected in the final edit?
Wallace: No, it turned out exactly as planned. The only thing that was different was we weren’t sure how many episodes we would get in Season 8 and when we first did it we weren’t sure if it would be the last season. When you watch this episode, there is something funny. Definitely The End – You know, this is end The battle between Bari and Town. This is because it was originally written to potentially be a series finale. So I hope it gives some weight and drama to the fact that “well, this is really the final battle between Flash and Negative Reverse Flash”.
TERM: However, are we really done with Reverse Flash?
Wallace: At this point, yes. Negative Reverse Flash is dead like Frost… Now, as I said, we’ve had another season and I wasn’t expecting it. I am very happy about this. [But] Just because Negative Reverse-Flash is dead doesn’t mean Tom Cavanaugh won’t be appearing in a certain capacity in Season 9 of the show. I guess I can say this without spoilers. [Laughs]
TERM: Several rockers are presented in the final moments of the eighth season. After Barry and Iris hint that the negative forces will have to choose a new avatar in the future, Mark Blaine encounters an unseen character emerging from the consciousness chamber of his resurrection. What can you tell us about what you put in here?
Wallace: There are two different things. I’ll answer the first one, which is the Negative Speed Force avatar… Yeah, it’s funny. The chapter says that there must be a balance in the universe, that is, an avatar of a negative velocity force, as Deon points out in chapter 815. And now that we’ve seen one die, I’m sure the negative forces will have to invent a new one. The question is, who will it be? .Track the track. I’m sure you’ll get the answer sooner.
Next thing, what’s in the box, right? [Laughs] Oh, I’m not going to tell you that. confused [for] With Season 9, you will immediately understand what is inside the box. A big clue as to what’s inside the box is the sound. He This Daniel Panabeaker’s voice, like this Some This is a version of Daniel Panabeaker out of the box. The question is, which one? Let the discussion begin as there are many ways to go.
TERM: In the final, we also learn that Cecil now has a new superpower. Tell us about it…
Wallace: Cecil got telekinesis. We saw the bowl in his hand fly. We wanted to make sure that we gave him all those superpowers and then got them back for helping the good side, so he got a little reward for that, so we gave him a whole new power. So in seasons 6, 7 and 8, he will now begin to increase his telekinetic abilities, in addition to all the wonderful mental strength he always had in season 9. This is very exciting.
TERM: What can you tell us who will appear in Season 9? Are there any big new villains?
Wallace: Now I’m going to the third season. blitz I don’t know or don’t know the ending, do I? I did this at the end of Season 7 and then I got 8. I did it at the end of season 8 and got 9. I’m doing it now in Season 9 and I hope you get 10. But just in case, get ready for some old and very familiar faces! For past atrocities over the eight years of the series. You’ll see some old styles return, and we’ll have fun including some very, very big favourites.
TERM: Although it was announced in April that Jesse L. Martin will leave the series, we heard that he will return in season 9. But specifically, how does it fit into the story? Will you be swapping out some early season episodes for loose endings?
Wallace: Again, I don’t know if this is my last season or not. We have a special story for Jesse. [Joe], Cecil and his family will be behind the doors of this season, and then we’ll just play by word of mouth. But we don’t want Jesse to disappear from the show just because you’re in five episodes. Honestly, if he just wants to come back, he has a way of staying a part of the show and keeping the character alive.
TERM: How do you think when you can learn or not? blitzWill the ninth season be the last?
Wallace: That’s the question I’m asked every five minutes. I would like to answer; I want to know. I hope he’ll understand when we start shooting in the fall. I think this is a fair explanation. [Laughs] So stay tuned.
TERM: Where exactly are you in the new season?
Wallace: I literally wrapped up the season 8 finale today to air on Wednesday. The eighth season finale is the greatest we’ve ever had. There are so many special effects. This is very surprising. I was happy to write it, and we thought it would be the end of the series, so we had a great, incredible fight between Grant Gastin and Tom Cavanaugh. So it was incredibly difficult to fully understand and act on the screen, but I’m happy to say we did it. I’m so excited to see people this Wednesday. After that, I’ll rest for a few weeks and not think about season 9 at all. Yes, I know what the ending of the ninth season is. We will experience very bad things next year. Let’s continue with the format of our comic. To be honest, I don’t know how many chapters I have, so if I get enough chapters we’ll have three comics like last year. If I take less, I will act accordingly. However, there will be at least two graphic novels with at least two separate major villains, one of which is a blast from the past.
TERM: Do you know ahead of time if there will be some kind of crossover event in Season 9?
Wallace: I don’t make any sense yet. This is usually supported by the network, The CW. Nothing like this is planned at the moment, but you can call me tomorrow.
term: lightning will exceed Arrow Next season will be the longest running Arrowverse series on the CW. What does reaching this stage mean to you?
Wallace: We will be at one hundred and ninety-four, [one-hundred] Eight to five episodes, something like that. crazy stuff. Given the climate of short seasons and short orders, it’s honestly a miracle and I’m proud to be a part of something special. As writers, producers and directors, and even the studio and network, we take this very seriously. There may not be many shows that have a chance to air more than 180 episodes, so we’re going to test this ninth season so we can make each one just a home series if possible.
TERM: Have some? potential flash Are they considered by-products at this point?
Wallace: No, because you don’t really start to see spin-offs until you think you’re not coming back, and I don’t think so. [Laughs] Now, as I said, obviously… we’ve introduced a lot of characters over the last few seasons… I’d tell the audience if there were any characters we’ve introduced over the past few years. to see. spin-off, you should write to The CW. But I will concentrate blitz Now, before focusing on anything else.
