The Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes appointed former Arthouse sales agent Julien Regel as the new Delegate General and changed his French name to usher in a new 60-year era of parallel lateral inclusion.
He replaces Quinzaine’s outgoing director Paolo Moretti, who assumed the role in September 2018, followed by Edward Wintrop, who headed the department from 2012 to 2018.
The Union of French Directors or Society of Film Dealers (SRF), the body that oversees secondary activities, said his appointment was voted on at the General Assembly on 25 June.
He added that the organization has also supported changing its French name to La Quinzaine des Cinéastes, La Quinzaine des Réalisateurs.
“In its General Assembly, the SRF voted a new name to focus more on inclusive and crucial cinema and cinema,” the body said in a statement.
“With this new impetus, the SRF is particularly pleased to welcome its new delegate, General Julien Regime,” he continued. “His absolute passion, which is sociable, constructive and pluralistic, is what the directors of Arthouse will need for years to come.”
