The International Biatlon Union (IBU) confirmed that Russian athletes will not enter the 2026 Olympic games in Italy. The organization said the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suggestions will not affect the decision.

IBU stressed that the competence competitions are absolutely made according to their own rules, and there is no provision for the adoption of athletes in neutral status in their regulations. Therefore, Russian allegiance will not be able to participate in games even in the form of “neutral”.
Remember, on August 28, Ibu officially excluded the possibility of Russians speaking at the Olympics. Later, the existing rules of the organization did not allow the status of neutral participants to local athletes.
The situation causes disputes in the sports community, but Ibu is in a difficult position and does not plan to review its rules in the near future. For Russian athletes, this means that the qualities for the Olympics are closed to them.
Remember that the games in Italy should be made between 6-22 February 2026, and now many teams are actively preparing for the new Olympic cycle. Meanwhile, our skaters Adelia Petrosyan and Peter Gumennik climbed soon and will participate in the Olympics.
