A picture strengthened by law
Education for sexuality is not new: He has been recorded in law since 2001 and provides three sessions per year for all studentsfrom elementary school to high school. But in fact, there were many disparities depending on the factories. After several criticisms of associations and a reminder of the Council of State that confirms the legality and obligation of these lessons, the Ministry implements a more homogeneous program.
Content adapted at any age
The program follows an educational progression.
In elementary school, we work on the concepts of respect and discovery of the body. For example, a teacher can offer a seminar on emotions: learning to say “I don’t like” or “I don’t want” in the face of an uncomfortable situation, in order to introduce the concept of consent from an early age.
At college, the courses take a more concrete dimension. Students are invited to discuss daily scenarios: “A companion transmits an intimate photo without an agreement” or “someone insists on physical contact”. These scenarios allow us to understand that consent is not presumed and that it can withdraw at any time.
In high school, exchanges become deeper. The topics addressed include contraception, sexual orientation and the fight against discrimination. The teachers or external parties sometimes offer seminars to the deconstruction of stereotypes: why do we still say that “girls are zero in mathematics” or that “boys should not cry”? These discussions open the way for reflection on equality and mutual respect.
Public prevention and health in the center of the system
One of the main objectives remains the prevention of early pregnancies and sexual transmission infections. But the reform also insists on the realities of digital: the courses include sequences on exposure to online pornography.
Rather than demonize, teachers explain that these contents do not reflect real relationships, nor the necessary respect between the partners. This approach aims to Give the young reliable reference parameters so as not to calculate their vision of sexuality on violent or non -realistic images.
The role of parents on this journey
These mandatory courses do not replace family dialogue. The parents remain the first educators in the emotional and sexual life of their children. But the school brings a common picture and a valid knowledge. To support them, different online resources are available, in particular on ESCULCO, which describes in detail the content discussed and offers educational reference parameters.
A response to social worries
According to national surveys, Almost one in five students never participated in the sexual education session. In a context in which sexual cyberrie explodes and where violence based on gender and sexual remains frequent, the school must offer a space for prevention and protection.
An example often cited is that of social networks: understanding why it is forbidden to spread an intimate photo of others, which risks bring on a legal, but also human level, is now an integral part of the courses.
Towards effective generalization
From 2025, each plant will be followed to verify the participation of the three annual sessions. Teachers will receive specific training and could rely on associations approved to intervene in the classes. The ambition is clear: to ensure that every student, wherever you live, benefits from the same reference parameters on emotional, relational and sexual life.
