Matthew McConaughey at the White House
Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey spoke at the White House, calling for stricter gun control in the United States. According to him, this will help prevent the tragedies that occurred in May in the actor’s hometown of Uvalda, Texas.
He noted that a thorough background check of the buyer is required before selling weapons, and also urged not to sell AR-15 assault rifles to anyone under the age of 21.
The actor added that since “society is not that divided”, there is now every chance to make progress in solving this problem.
On May 24 this year, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos set fire to a primary school in the city of Uvalde. 19 children and two adults lost their lives in the incident. Ramos was shot dead by the police who arrived at the scene.
