Variety: Julia Garner to play Madonna in biopic about the singer

Actress Julia Garner, best known for Inventing Anna and The Ozarks, will play Madonna in a new biopic that the pop star will direct herself. The fact that Julia was approved for the role is quoted by Variety from a source close to the project.
An insider added that Garner is a favorite of more than a dozen candidates. Another source said Garner’s team is now reviewing the offer and is expected to accept it. Florence Pugh, Euphoria star Alexa Demi, Odessa Young, Bebe Rexha, and Sky Ferreira are also reportedly considered for the role. According to sources, casting was quite grueling, as a music production requires performance and dance skills.

Filming will take place at Universal Pictures and will focus on the early years of Madonna’s career. Talking about the project, the pop star presented it like this:
Production dates and actors of other roles are still unknown. The project is produced by Amy Pascal, who has worked on the Spider-Man movies since 2016, as well as reboots of Little Women, Venom, and Ghostbusters.
