The British Academy has announced the nominees for the 2025 Rising Star Award. Mikey Madison, star of Sean Baker’s Anora, was also on the list. Variety reports this.
By the way, this is the only BAFTA film award that is voted on by the public. Among those vying for victory in this category were five: Mikey Madison (“Anora”), Marisa Abela (“Return to Darkness”), Jharrel Jerome (“Unstoppable”), David Johnsson (“Alien: Romulus”) and Nabhan Rizwan (“In the Cell” “)
BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip said: “BAFTA created the EE Rising Star Award in honor of visionary casting director Mary Selway, who dedicated her life to identifying and supporting talent.”
Previously, the actor admitted that he was pleased with Yura Borisov, who played with him in the film. He added that Borisov could play any character imaginable. By the way, Yura is also vying for victory at the Critics’ Choice Awards, and foreign film critics have already chosen the Russian celebrity as the best supporting actor.
We are also expecting Yura Borisov’s name among the Oscar nominees in the Best Supporting Actor category. Nominations for the 97th Oscars will be announced on January 17. Currently, the Film Academy has already announced the first lists of Oscar nominees. And recently it became known that Yura Borisov and Mark Eidelstein were nominated for the BAFTA film award.
