The first reactions for the Universal Pictures horror film The Wolf Man have hit social media and critics love what the film offers.
Wolf Man is described as “heart-pounding,” “super fun,” “terrifying,” “creepy” and “suspenseful.” It looks like it will deliver a dark and crazy story that horror movie fans will enjoy.
Christopher Abbott (Poor things, it arrives at night) plays Blake, a husband and father from San Francisco, “who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his father disappears and is presumed dead.
“With his marriage to his powerful wife, Charlotte (Giulia Garner; Ozark, Inventing Anna), worn out, Blake convinces Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth; Hullraisers, Coma).
“But as the family approaches the farm in the dead of night, they are attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, they barricade themselves inside the house as the creature prowls the perimeter.
“As the night progresses, however, Blake begins to act strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror inside their home is deadlier than the danger outside.”
The film comes from The invisible man director Leigh Whannell and a screenplay written by Whannell and Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum AND Rebecca Angelothe latter duo had already written the dramatic comedy, Stupid money.
Leigh Whannell’s WOLF MAN is a heart-pounding, super-fun take on classic werewolf cinema. Less is more in this powerful tale of generational guilt. Wolf Man’s “infected” design also works much better on screen.
Very different, but also complementary to The Invisible Man. pic.twitter.com/4WyMNxWTA1

Wolf Man is not only terrifying, but it also packs an emotional punch. I found myself jumping out of my skin and then shedding tears. The acting is top notch and the cinematography is insane. The way the camera changes POV offers a masterclass in horror. I loved it! #WolfManMovie pic.twitter.com/GzVIo62Bf9

Wolf Man is everything I wanted and more. A truly excellent horror film that offers body horror, family horror and some gruesome effects. The entire cast is excellent, but Christopher Abbott takes it to another level as a classic “character”. @WolfManMovie25 pic.twitter.com/AqvL4sO404

#TheWolfman It will leave you afraid of the dark! I watched this movie with my feet in the air because I was terrified of what might grab my ankles. Just a thrill of suspense from start to finish. Christopher Abbott is a star and I love him so much! pic.twitter.com/V6frodldjq

Leigh Whannell’s Wolfman may be very different than some people expect (similar to his Invisible Man). Definitely a slower build and having a family makes for a very different dynamic, but it’s still pretty good with lots of scary moments… and it’s SHORT too!
