Too dark: Chris Columbus reveals what Gremlins were really supposed to be like

A still from the movie “Gremlins”

Christmas horror movie “Gremlins” still excites the imagination of children and adults. It turns out that the story about monsters hiding under the guise of cute furry creatures may be completely different.

Director Chris Columbus believes the talent for making horror is in his DNA. In 1984, he wrote the script for Steven Spielberg’s horror comedy film. He did not have the courage to defend his position in front of a more prominent colleague. Therefore, most of his “terrible” scenario ideas were simply removed.

“My father stayed and fought the gremlins. I don’t remember exactly whether he survived or not. My mother did not survive. Billy (Zach Galligan) ran to the entrance of her house and saw her head. So there were definitely a few deaths. And Barney the dog was unlucky. Can you imagine? We even “killed” the dog! he told Vanity Fair.

Visitors to the fast food restaurant took it in and went to eat the gremlins themselves. However, these sections remained on paper. The only death Columbus decided to defend was that of Phoebe Cates’ father.

Now Chris Columbus can make his own decisions. He co-produced the horror film Nosferatu. By the way, we recently wrote about why everyone is so eagerly waiting for the release of this movie starring Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgård.
