Telegram messenger has become profitable for the first time in three years after the launch of monetization. Founder Pavel Durov announced this on his own account.
As it turned out, Telegram’s revenue exceeded a billion dollars for the first time this year (more than 100.5 billion rubles – Note ed.). “We are closing the year with more than 500 million dollars (more than 50 billion rubles). Note ed.) cash reserves do not include crypto assets,” the entrepreneur said.
This profit is associated with the monetization that occurs on messenger in 2021, namely ads and paid subscriptions activated on channels. Before this, Telegram had no paid features for seven years.
By the way, billionaire Elon Max has already commented on Pavel Durov’s statement, which the entrepreneur published, among other things, on the X* social network. “Great job!” — wrote the businessman.
Social network X* is prohibited in the Russian Federation
