The retro trailer of this week is for the post-apocalyptic martial arts action film of 1987 Steel Dawn, who is playing Patrick Swayze Like a wandering warrior and which brandishes the sword known only as nomadic.
Set in a desolate desert desert following a devastating war, Nomad wanders for the ruins of civilization that seeks peace, but ends up being captured in a battle between a peaceful agricultural settlement and a ruthless war lord who wants to control the only source of water in the region.
Along the way, Nomad finds redemption, romance and a lot of slow motion sword fighting. Think Mad Max it meets The karate childBut with a mystical turning point of swordsmen.
What Steel Dawn Such a wild race is his bizarre mashup of genres and aesthetics. The film blends the action cheese of the 80s with western spaghetti vibrations, samurai cinematographic influences and an inexplicable quantity of interpretative martial arts.
SwayzeComplete with a mullet and a meditobondo glow that challenge gravity, brings an strangely Zen atmosphere to a desert swordsman that offers round kicks and deep philosophical quotes in equal measure.
Add mutants, mental monks and a bad monks with an almost glorious trigue like that of Swayze, and you have a film that is totally disgusting and strangely sincere.
It is a worship gem that is so unusual that it must be seen to be believed.
