Daniel Craig wasn’t happy about playing the iconic special agent. The actor was afraid that this role would ruin his career.

Despite portraying the character 007 in five films, Daniel Craig initially turned down the chance to play James Bond. The celebrity feared this might limit other opportunities for him in the film industry.

The actor said that he was very nervous when he received the offer. He did not sign the contract until he had the opportunity to read the script of the film. Craig feared he would become a prisoner of a role.

“It was the fear of how this would disrupt my life. I was making good money at the time, so if I had spent my life doing what I was doing at the time, I would have been more than happy. There are a few movies I’ve made that I’m incredibly proud of. But I was so tired while shooting them. It was better to just focus on Bond,” the actor said on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.

The 56-year-old actor announced that he was trying to move away from his special agent image. He almost exhausted himself trying to show his uniqueness. Recall that Daniel Craig played the role of agent 007 in five films, starting with “Casino Royale” in 2006 and ending with “No Time to Die” in 2021. Since then, Daniel has ditched the bow tie and tuxedo and moved on to more experimental roles.
