Cillian Murphy has made the most unusual purchase. The actor bought a cinema he went to with his father when he was a child. Deadline reports this.
The Oppenheimer star has purchased the historic Phoenix Cinema in Dingle, Ireland. Note ed.) with artist Yvonne McGuinness.
The Phoenix was named “one of the 50 best cinemas in the UK and Ireland” by Time Out magazine. It operated for 105 years but closed after the pandemic. Murphy and his wife plan to renovate the building and expand it into a multidisciplinary space.
“I’ve been going to watch movies in Phoenix during summer holidays since I was little. My dad had seen movies there before me when he was younger, and we watched a lot of movies in Phoenix with our own kids,” Killian said.
