According to Daily Mail, a luxury house owned by former football player and Shakira’s ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique was attacked.
Pique, 37, owns property in Cerdanya, a historic region of the Pyrenees on the border of Spain and France. His house was recently the target of vandalism by a member of the Arran youth organisation, which campaigns against tourism and luxury use of the area.
The Arran group shared a video on social media showing the vandalism and writing “Fuera pijos” (“Go away, snobs”) on exterior walls. In the video, the activist said Cerdanha was facing a housing crisis caused in part by the rise of tourism-focused properties. He noted that 64 percent of homes here are second or third residences and are used, on average, only 14 days a year.
The organization believes that the development of luxury properties like Pique makes it difficult for low-income people who want to live and work in the area but cannot afford the high rental costs.
Let us also remind you that Shakira and Gerard Pique started dating after shooting the video for the song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which became the anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Despite their long-term relationship, the couple was not officially married. They announced their separation in the summer of 2022. The former lovers are raising two sons together: Milan and Sasha. The former football player is now dating 25-year-old Clara Chia Marti.
By the way, we have previously written that Lionel Messi’s luxurious mansion was demolished by environmental activists. Read more about this here.
