Disney hires Apple vet Mark Bozon as the key supervisor of the Metaverse Push

Mark Bozon, who spent 12 years at Apple as a game creator and executive, has been hired by Disney in a senior role to help the company pursue a metaversion.

Titled VP, Creative Experience for Next Generation Stories, Bozon will create an enterprise-wide team to work on “new webs of interconnected customer experiences.” You will collaborate with creative, technology, design and strategy colleagues.

Boson was hired by Mike White, Next Generation’s VP of Storytelling and Customer Experience. Earlier this year, Bob Chapek appointed White to the role of CEO and then began signaling the company’s intentions to have a stake in Metaversion. The exact nature or structure of the initiative’s value is still unclear, but Chapek told CNBC in February that he was considering a “third dimension” of meta-versatility. “It will take all the glory that we as a media company have with Disney + and we will use it as a platform for metaversion, but at the same time we have what no one else has and this is the physical world, our world. “Parks,” he said. “If the metaversion is a combination of physical and digital in one environment, who can do it better than Disney?”

White reports to Karim Daniel, president of Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, and Josh D’Amaro, president of Disney Parks, Experiences & Products.

Reporting to White, Bozon will be responsible for leading the creative vision of the Disney Next Generation Story strategy and defining and designing new, related storytelling experiences. Opportunities for the NGS group include games, movies, television, toys, parks and more, the company said.
