From October 10 to 13, the Rosa Khutor resort hosted the annual sports festival ROSA RUN, Russia’s first and only four-day running festival in the mountains. This year it attracted more than 3,000 runners and 3,600 fans from all over the country. The main theme was the slogan “Running to the future”.
Vladimir Sheikin, General Director of ROSA RUN, thanked all participants for their perseverance and desire to win, as well as the Rosa Khutor resort and the organizers of the event “for their professionalism and creating a unique holiday atmosphere.” He expressed that they hope the festival will be even brighter and bigger next year.
Each day of the program was dedicated to a different start. So the first day there was a 6.8 km race – ROSA PEAK. Participants ran along a ski slope to the top of Rosa Peak, where the maximum elevation gain was 1150 m.
The second day of the festival was dedicated to the ROSA QUEST race, a team that begins with a story in which participants are tested and complete tasks at various stations along the running route. A total of 114 teams participated in the race and successfully completed missions in 11 thematic locations, each hiding their own secrets and challenges.
The third day of the festival was marked by the colorful ROSA CARNIVAL costume race: Participants showed extraordinary imagination and creativity by running a distance of 2.1 km in incredible outfits. At the beginning you can meet runners dressed as aliens and astronauts, heroes of your favorite movies from the future, guardians of the galaxy and cartoon characters. As part of the evening program of the festival, a speed dating night was organized, where participants met, communicated, got to know each other and later even got married.
The fourth and last day of the festival is traditionally dedicated to trail running. Everyone was able to choose a distance according to their training level: Beginner runners covered 9.4 km with up to 700 m of climbing as part of the ROSA GREEN TRAIL, while confident athletes took part in the ROSA RED TRAIL with 1400 m of ascent over 16 km. m and the most experienced tested their strength in the most difficult start, ROSA BLACK TRAIL, at 28 km and climbing up to 2200 m.
The events of the festival did not end there: every evening everyone was treated to a rich evening program and themed parties: karaoke, quiz, speed dating and other interesting events. Within the scope of the day program, the opportunity was also provided to attend outdoor yoga classes and listen to lectures from leading experts on running technique, equipment and nutrition. On the last day, a magnificent closing party awaited everyone.
