It turns out that Batman was invented in Russia. Evidence of this was found by social network user Evgeny Zubkov. The man posted newspaper clippings on his personal blog describing the activities of the “Bat Society”, which existed in Rostov-on-Don at the beginning of the 20th century: its members helped police officers maintain law and order in the city.
According to Evgeniy, the association took its name from the reliefs on the building where the volunteers gathered. The house is located on Bolshaya Sadovaya Street, 23.
Zubkov published an archival photo showing students of the secondary technical school. He created art posters and added Batman to them. “I redrew the details, replaced the combine with a custom-made bat-armored vehicle based on Austin-Putilovets. And it turns out that Batman himself has a steampunk spirit, but wears tarpaulin boots,” the user explained.
Zubkov suggested that comic book writer, animator and artist Bob Kane came up with Batman when his parents told him a story about members of the Bat Society. “They looked like Eastern European Jews,” Evgeniy explained.
