Jenna Fischer, 50, of “The Office” told fans on the banned social network that she was diagnosed with “aggressive” breast cancer last year. The actress, who plays the character of Pam Beesly in the series, announced that she hid her diagnosis with wigs and hats during treatment.
The artist assured that he is now healthy. Jenna had to go through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The star wrote in her post, “I never thought I would make such a statement, but here it is.”
In a series of slides, Fisher detailed how she learned of the grim diagnosis. This happened in October last year. The actress had a routine mammogram. After inconclusive results, an ultrasound detected a mass in her left breast and she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in December.
Jenna said her type of cancer is “aggressive” but also treatable. In January, she had lumpectomy surgery, which is surgery to remove some of the breast tissue. The cancer did not spread, but to make sure it would not return, the celebrity underwent chemotherapy in February, radiation therapy in June, and also took medication. “I’m happy to say I feel great,” he continued.
Fisher said she’s managed to hide the cancer so far, thanks to “some great wigs and hats with hair.” The actress said she went public with her diagnosis to “beg” others to schedule mammograms and take steps to detect cancer early.
“My tumor was too small to be felt during physical examination. If I had waited another six months things could have been much worse. It might have spread… Consider it a kick in the ass to do this,” the “Office” star urged subscribers.
Recall that Jenna Fischer played Pam Beesly on “The Office” for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013 and received an Emmy Award nomination in the “Outstanding Supporting Actress” category. Her most recent role was in the musical adaptation of Mean Girls this year.
